Super Mario Bros. is a platform video game developed by the Japanese company Nintendo in 1985 for the Famicom game console. This is the best-selling game in the world, listed in the Guinness Book of Records. The main character of the game, Mario is the symbol of Nintendo.
History of the game
In 1889, Japanese Fusajiro Yamauchi (山内 房治郎) set up a small company that produced Hanafuda (花札) playing cards. Nintendo Koppai prospered for many decades, but the grandson of the founder named Hiroshi (山内溥) in 1956 wanted to master new activities. After not always successful ideas like “love hotels”, the adventurous investor in the 60s settled on the video game market.
Hiroshi owns the invention of the Color TV-Game, and over three million units have been sold in three years. Nintendo also released 3,000 Radar Scope slot machines for the US, but the Americans found the game too similar to Space Invaders. As a result, the company was left with many unsold slot machines. The failure only encouraged Yamauchi - together with the developer Shigeru Miyamoto (宮本茂), he created a new game. The protagonist of Jumpman, later renamed Mario, had to save his girlfriend from the huge gorilla Donkey Kong.
It wasn't until 1983 that Mario and his brother Luigi became celebrities. They were plumbers in an arcade game and they were destroying creatures in sewer pipes. When home computers appeared, the game moved to the homes of the Japanese, and then conquered the American market.
