What this is
A browser version of Super Mario Bros. that runs on your own machine, with no download, no plugin and no account. It is playable on a phone as well as a desktop, and each of the 32 levels has its own page you can open directly instead of playing through to reach it.
The engine
The game runs on Full Screen Mario, an open-source HTML5 re-implementation of the 1985 original. The map data, sprites and physics come from that project; this site adds the interface around it, mobile controls, and the level breakdowns, which are generated by reading the game’s own map files rather than written by hand.
Legal position
Super Mario Bros., Mario and all related characters and trademarks belong to Nintendo. This site is a fan project, is not affiliated with Nintendo, and makes no claim to their intellectual property. It hosts no ROM files and no copies of Nintendo software.
